Working with clean fibers as a sustainable alternative


In our efforts towards accelerating our sustainable development, for the spring 20 collection that are available online and in-store we have integrated two new sorts of clean fibers: Tencel and Linen. Both fabrics that also have transcended into our coming collections.

Biodegradable Tencel produced in closed-loop

The first fibre is Tencel, which is a fibre that originates from renewable wood fibers. Due to the certified bio-based fibers are manufactured using an environmentally responsible closed loop production process, it contributes to maintaining an environmental balance, and can thus, naturally be integrated back into nature’s cycle.

The origin and manufacturing process of Tencel constitute several benefits for both the environment and the consumer as well. Key features of the fabric, is the incredible soft touch (also referred to as peach skin feel) and has an almost effect to the skin. This makes the fabric ideal for for a warm summer.  

For our Spring 20 collection we chose to craft the Laurent Tenchel shirt with short and long sleeves as well as Laurent Baseball Cap featuring a minimal sports design.  

Durable Linen

The second clean fibre that we have integrated from the Spring 20 collection is Linen, which has multiple sustainable benefits. First, linen is two to three times stronger than cotton making the fibre much more rugged, adding additional longevity to the styles. Further, the natural fibers also hold dye colours better than other fibers, which extends the overall lifespan of a piece of Linen garment. Lastly, linen is also anti-bacterial which decreases the need for washing and ultimately and therefore, diminishes water usage. Currently available is the Simon Linen Shirt, Marseille Linen Jacket, as well as the Pino Linen Pants and Shorts.

Adding more sustainable fabrics to our collections is crucial as they collectively will make a difference, both in terms of the manufacturing process as well as the ongoing consumption of goods.
